I am thrilled to inform all our fantastic supporters that our first event in September has now sold out. This is due to the talent of our amazing author, Annie Garthwaite, who has now written two books based on the life of Cecily Neville, one of the most powerful women of her time and mother of two kings of England!! How many mothers can claim that achievement?
Cecily Neville was the wife of Richard, Duke of York, and the mother of two kings of England: Edward IV and Richard III. Fotheringhay Castle was one of their principal homes and many of their children (including Richard III) were born there. Cecily and her husband were largely responsible for the building of the church in the 15th century and, most importantly, it is the place of their eternal rest. They lie in the church side by side, with several of their children.
I look forward to seeing all of you ticket holders, at what promises to be an atmospheric and exciting evening in Fotheringhay later this month.
